Linagliptin belongs to a class of medicines called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It works by increasing the amount of incretin hormones in the body. This helps increase the production of insulin, thereby controlling blood sugar.
Linagliptin is NOT indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
